November 7, 2018 -- TriCheer announced today efforts to advance Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) communications in China with new smart terminals for roadside units (RSUs) and onboard units (OBUs) based on the Qualcomm 9150 C-V2X chipset solution from Qualcomm Technologies, Inc., a subsidiary of Qualcomm Incorporated. The new terminals will be equipped with 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) Release 14 LTE Vehicle-to-Everything (LTE-V2X) direct communication technology as TriCheer aims to make next generation products available to automakers and broad automotive ecosystem to support automotive safety, automated driving and traffic efficiency.

Also known as C-V2X across the globe, LTE-V2X is designed to be compatible with 5G New Radio (5G NR) and complements other Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) sensors, such as cameras, radar and LIDAR. LTE-V2X direct communication mode is designed to offer vehicles low latency communications for Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V), Vehicle-to-Roadside Infrastructure (V2I) and Vehicle-to-Pedestrian (V2P) without the involvement of a cellular network, or cellular network subscription, by operating on designated 5.9 GHz ITS spectrum.
Tier-1 suppliers, cellular module manufacturers, software solution providers and system integrators across the globe have expressed their support for the deployment of LTE-V2X technology in upcoming production vehicles and RSUs starting in 2019.
